Who knew dressing up could be so much fun! Interactive play helps not only social skills, but with developing abstract thinking as well.
Don't be afraid to throw on a cowboy hat and feather boa at the same time... maybe while making dinner. See how many giggles you can get from your little ones. :)

Welcome to Preschool!
For our students and their families, we invite you to come out on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm for our Meet the Teacher / Orientation evening! You'll be able to take a look around and ask any questions that you may have. We will review our Parent Handbook together at this time as well as go over a few important changes for this upcoming school year.
There are a few things we ask that you bring for your child to keep at school. We would like to have a spare change of clothes (pants, shorts, shirt, underwear, & socks) as well as a paint shirt or smock (an old shirt works well). Please put the spare change of clothes in a gallon sized zip-lock bag labeled with your child’s name. Also, please be sure to bring back your enrollment packet if you have not already done so along with a current immunization record.
Along with the above items, we are asking for some additional supplies of the following items:
- 1 Pump Container of Hand Sanitizer
- 1 Container of Baby Wipes (or a refill pack)
- 1 Container of Baby Wipes (or a refill pack)

Under the Sea Week
We learned all about different sea creatures and had fun creating some of our own!
We also made our own pet fish to take home! This was a huge favorite for them all. What cute names they came up with for their pets.
Insect Week
Who loves bugs?? We do!!
Mr. Tom came in to show us some bugs and helped us understand what jobs the bugs have as well as which ones to stay away from!

Aren't these butterflies cute? They each were able to pick out the colors they wanted. Squishy paint between your toes anyone? :)
We went outside on a bug hunt and then played with some sidewalk chalk and drew some bugs.
Easter Week
Happy Easter!
We made these cute eggs with baby chicks inside.
I always say it's not fun until it's messy... and this sure was messy!
I'm surprised at how many actually liked getting glue all over their hands and wrapping the string around a balloon. I think we all were one big gluey mess by the end of the day!
It was fun trying different colors of strings.

Weather & Rainbow Week
This was so much fun creating our "rain" experiment! We talked about all kinds of weather and why it rains.
We also did quite a few color experiments. Here is a picture of our water color wheel. How many colors do you see? The children were surprised that we only added blue, red and yellow. But when we turn it, it creates all sorts of colors!
They loved this!
We also made a class birdhouse by putting it together and painting it. We then took a nature walk and found the perfect spot to put our birdhouse.
Great team work!

Space Week
This week we blasted off into outer space and learned all about planets and our solar system!
They loved Ms. Gale's "Moon Rock". They each took turns guessing what was inside before cracking it open.
Some guessed M&M's, spiders, bananas, monkey eggs, and aliens.

They were quite pleased with what we found. It was full of sparkles! (although, I think most were secretly hoping for M&M's) :D

Hawaiian Luau Week
This week was fun! Ms. Amy brought in a pineapple and we took turns smelling and feeling the texture. No one liked the smell from the outside.
As soon as we cut open the pineapple we found out what was inside and smelled it again and then tasted it!

I was surprised at how many really loved the taste! Most wanted to eat more and more samples! We certainly love our adventurous smiling faces!
We made hula skirts, lei necklaces and 'fire sticks' to complete our hula party.
Below is a video of our little "Hawaiians" singing an Aloha song. They still ask to sing it!
Dinosaur Week
We could have stretched our dinosaur theme for another week! The kids enjoyed it so much and learned quite a bit about plant eaters vs. meat eaters.
We had many activities but I think their favorite was making the dinosaur fossils. They turned out pretty cool!
Here's one of our "dinosaur" teeth!

Christmas Week
We definitely enjoyed the Week of Christmas! We all decorated our gingerbread cookies with frosting and candy.
I hope you all enjoyed the children singing! They did a great job. :)
